Is the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card a credit card? [back to top]

No. The U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card is a prepaid Visa card that carries a fixed amount determined by the giver at the time of purchase. Each time the gift recipient uses the card, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance.

Where can the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card be used? [back to top]

The U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card can be used to make purchases everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted within the United States.

Is there a limit as to how much value the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card can have? [back to top]

Yes. The minimum value the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card can have is $25 and the maximum value is $500.

Do I need to sign an agreement? [back to top]

Each card is distributed with a Gift Card Agreement. This agreement fully explains the terms and conditions regarding the use of the card. This agreement can also be viewed online. The gift recipient accepts the terms and conditions by either signing the back of the card or using the card.

Will I receive a statement? [back to top]

Gift recipients can review their current balance online free of charge through this Web site. In addition, the gift recipient can call Gift Card Services at 1-877-693-2899 to receive balance and transaction information (fee may apply).

Are there fees associated with my gift card? [back to top]

U.S.Bank will deduct from the card balance an inactivity fee of $2.50 per month after 12 consecutive months of inactivity. There is also a $15.00 fee to replace a lost or stolen card.

Buying gas? [back to top]

Always pay at the counter. Do not pay at the pump. Always pay inside and tell the operator how much you want taken from your card. When you pay at the pump $75 is automatically deducted from your card, until the actual transaction posts (typically within three days). If you have less than $75 on your card, your transaction will be declined at the pump.

Using your gift card at a restaurant or salon? [back to top]

Most restaurants and salons temporarily add approximately 20% to your bill to cover the tip. Make sure your balance can accommodate the additional 20% or your transaction will be declined.

What happens if I need to return an item? [back to top]

Merchandise return and refund policies vary by merchant. If a credit is issued to the cardholder, the credit may not be added to the available funds for up to seven business days. Check your balance regularly to determine when your card has been credited for the return.

What if the purchase is declined? [back to top]

The card's available balance is probably less than the purchase amount. You may inform the merchant of the remaining balance on the card and use another form of payment to pay the difference, subject to the policy of the merchant. Also, please be aware that use of the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card at some merchants - for example, restaurants, mail-order companies, and cruise lines - requires the card have an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses. Use of the card at automated fuel dispensers requires a minimum balance of $75. However, only the actual amount spent will be deducted from the card.

Does the U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card have an expiration date? [back to top]

Yes. The gift card does expire and is indicated on the front of the card except where prohibited or modified by applicable law.

Can I reload my U.S. Bank Visa Gift Card? [back to top]

No, the card cannot be reloaded.

What happens if my Gift Card is lost or stolen? [back to top]

Immediately report any problems or a lost or stolen card by calling 1-877-693-2899. A replacement card will be issued if you provide the card number and any available balance will be transferred to the new card, less a $15.00 replacement card fee that will be deducted from the card's available balance. See Terms & Conditions for details.

Can the card ever have a negative balance? [back to top]

Any transaction that is greater than the card's available balance will be declined.
